In 2019, a small boy’s life was saved by a cheerleader from Rockwall High School in Texas named Tyra Winters.

Her swift movements allowed her to perform the Heimlich technique on the child, which earned her acclaim for her bravery.

A cheerleader from a high school in Texas who was then 17 years old was taking part in a homecoming rally when she saw that other people in the audience were showing indications of discomfort. She was confined on a float along with other cheerleaders and football players, yet she continued to cautiously gaze around.

She had no idea that a little kid called Clarke, who was only two years old, was having trouble breathing because he was choking on a piece of candy. He was not even coughing or gasping for air since he was not receiving any oxygen at all.

His airway was entirely obstructed by the obstruction. Nicole Hornback, his mother, did everything she could to assist, but she did not have any training on how to handle an emergency situation and did not know what to do.

The color of Clarke’s face changed from red to purple. His mother was searching for assistance in a desperate manner.

Tyra was able to locate the source of the uproar among the throng. As soon as she saw that Clarke was having trouble breathing, she immediately recognized what was going on and leaped off of her float without pausing for a second to reconsider.

She was well aware of the next step to take. A few years before, her mother had instructed her in the proper use of the Heimlich technique.

Tyra did the Heimlich technique on Clarke until he gasped and spat up the candy, much to the delight of the onlookers. He was now able to breathe normally! When she found out that her child was okay, his mother broke out in floods of relief and thanks.

Tyra was praised by Hornback as “extremely courageous” for freely contributing to the mission to rescue Clarke.

The homecoming rally went on, but nobody forgot about Tyra’s bravery since it was such an important moment.

The word of her prompt response quickly traveled across the school as well as the neighborhood, and it finally became viral over the whole internet.

A few days later, Tyra, Clarke, and Hornback got back together, but Clarke didn’t seem to recall that the cheerleader who had saved his life was Tyra. Despite this, Hornback felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for Tyra for her fast thinking and brave acts.
