Dayshawn and Michael spent a significant portion of their lives in foster care before coming into the care of Sarah Cozad and her husband, Stuart Shank.

The worried judge posed the expected question to the elder son, Dayshawn, and asked if he supported the adoption. With a smile on his face, the adolescent joyfully said yes.

Dayshawn’s comments moved the judge, who agreed that she didn’t need any more convincing. Turning to Michael, the younger kid, the judge asked for his permission before pressing him to seal the transaction.

Michael quickly took the judge’s gavel and pounded the table, delivering his final decision. With that, the parents signed the adoption paperwork and welcomed the two new members of their family. Shank and Cozad treated the lads to a special limousine ride to and from the courts.
