A total stranger covered a grandma’s grocery bill when her credit card was denied at the checkout counter. And now, the family of Marilyn Oettinger, who is 89 years old, is looking for the angel that showed such kindness to their loved one.
Marilyn Oettinger, who was 89 years old at the time, accompanied a group of older citizens on a trip to the supermarket. Her husband had just recently gone away, thus this was one of the few occasions on which she had been out on her alone since then.
After making sure she has everything she needs, Marilyn makes her way to the register to complete the transaction. And at that point, something that was not at all what was intended takes occurred!
As a result of the credit card being refused, Marilyn was put in a difficult position.
This is the only credit card that she and her husband had between the two of them and the fact that Marilyn’s late husband’s name is included on the card presents a challenge, though. And once he passed away, the card was revoked by the bank, which was kept a secret from his widow.
Behind Marilyn was a person who couldn’t be identified. But this guy comes up and reassures her, “Don’t worry, i’ll make sure your groceries are taken care of.
The guy does not show any reluctance and pays the woman’s $109 grocery bill, even though the woman’s credit card was denied. And despite her best efforts, the thankful granny is unable to get the stranger’s contact information so that she might compensate him in the future.
And with that, the guy walked away, undoubtedly content with the kind gesture he had performed.
The members of Marilyn’s family are conducting a frantic search for the heroic bystander who rushed to their aid. “And even if he doesn’t want to come forward, we’re hoping that he’ll know that we’re really appreciative.”
When someone’s credit card is refused, it can be such an embarrassing and upsetting time for everyone involved. However, the grace and compassion that was shown by this total stranger serves as a reminder that there is still an abundance of goodwill in this world.
