There are a million and one reasons why someone might want to try out for one of the many talent shows. Obviously, they all want to prove that they have what it takes to win, but each competitor has a unique motive or support system that pushes them to go the additional mile.

For some, it is a parent, for others, it is their own self-esteem, and for others, it is a kid.

Joseph Whelan, a 26-year-old tool salesman, has been in bands for many years. He’s also the father of a cute 4-year-old child.

Joseph adores his kid and wishes to do all possible for him, to be the greatest role model he can be, and to ensure that he develops into a happy and well-rounded young man. Unfortunately, Joseph no longer lives with him because he and his son’s mother divorced. It truly tries his heart.

His X Factor audition is his chance to teach his kid that he can grow up to be whatever he wants to be if he works hard enough!

Despite his strong frame and tattoos, he was a little shy when he came onto the stage. When it came to cheering him on, the females in the audience couldn’t stop themselves.

He gobbled it right up!

When he begins to sing, the judges get taken aback by the sound that comes out of his lips. That rough, powerful rock & roll voice! This was definitely a shock in comparison to his previous nice and slightly timid personality!

There isn’t a single person in the room who didn’t like this performance. But I believe the biggest fan remained backstage the entire time.

As the camera pans to Joseph’s son, who is dancing along to the music like the happiest child in the world, your heart melts.

But brace yourselves for the cutest moment: after the song, his kid runs up onto the stage to tell his father what a great job he did! Joseph takes him up into his arms, and the large, hefty guy begins to cry.

Even though he didn’t win, Joseph went back to X-Factor a year later and tried out again. This time, he sang a Bon Jovi song beautifully.

He’s out here trying to make things better for his family. Later in the season, as the judges deliver their judgment on Joseph’s performance of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, he bursts into tears. We could listen to this handsome father’s voice all day!

Whatever the reason for your support, you can’t deny that this performance will be with you for a long time!
