Blake Shelton pays tribute to Elvis Presley with a rendition of “Suspicious Minds”

Carrie Underwood and Darius Rucker, two more country music heavyweights, also appeared on the show. There is no shortage of Elvis Presley cover songs, but country music singer Blake Shelton hit the nail on the head with a version of Suspicious Minds at a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll in 2019.

Last February, a plethora of musical talents gathered for a special tribute event to honor Elvis for his accomplishments in the music industry. Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, and others performed at the tribute, according to Billboard.

Shelton grabbed center stage as a performer as well as a host. In addition to the boisterous version of Suspicious Minds, Shelton sang If I Can Dream, Trouble, Guitar Man, and other songs.

Shelton’s selection to sing Suspicious Minds came as no surprise. The song was a huge smash in the country music scene, and many artists covered it. One of the most successful covers was Dwight Yoakam’s in 1992. Blake’s girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, sang the song with her band, No Doubt, as a tribute to Elvis Presley in 2002. We’re convinced that Shelton’s rendition of the iconic ballad did Stefani well.
