Famous musician Bon Jovi is involved in the management of a unique restaurant. Not only does it give free meals to those who are unable to purchase them, but it also serves fresh food that has been brought directly from the garden to the table.
Nobody has the right to go without food, but the unfortunate truth is that a lot of individuals are having such a hard time financially that they can’t even afford to buy their own food.
This sad reality is one that Bon Jovi just is unable to turn a blind eye to for whatever reason. Because of this, he made the decision to put his resources into providing those in need with access to hot meals.
In 2011, the philanthropist, who is 57 years old, and his wife, Dorothea Hurley, launched the first location of JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey. After another five years they established a second store in the Toms River area.
In an interview, Dorothea said that “hunger does not seem like what your mind’s eye could picture it to look like. The mission of the community eateries is to provide assistance to individuals who are struggling to eat.
On the menu, there are no pricing; rather, customers who are able to pay are encouraged to make a gift of twenty dollars, which will cover the cost of their meal.” Helping out in the kitchen in return for the meal is an option for individuals who are unable to contribute in any other way.
You are mistaken if you believe that the quality of the food can be below average since some customers receive their meals for free. Meals sourced directly from the garden or farm are prepared and presented in three courses at his restaurants.
Diners begin their meal with an appetizer of soup or salad, after which they choose an entrée from the options of fish, beef, or vegetarian fare. The duo want to continue operating more JBJ Soul Kitchens around the nation so long as there is a demand for their services.
In addition to assisting those in need in gaining access to food, Jon Bon Jovi established the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in 2006. The mission of this organization is “to break the cycle of poverty, starvation, and homelessness.”
The artist is responsible for helping to offer more than 500 low-cost houses to those in need in ten different states thanks to the initiatives he’s established.
Bon Jovi is an excellent example of a famous person who puts their resources to work for the greater good.
