Bruno, a dog with one ear, decided to make his “best friend” look just like him. He now has a father to look after him as a result

Bruno, a one-eared dog at the SPCA of Wake County in North Carolina, is determined to make his “best friend” appear just like him. He now has a father to look after him as a result.

As the SPCA of Wake County published images of the pup with his freshly one-eared stuffed toy, photos of Bruno’s labor went viral. “Bruno tore one of his favorite stuffed toys’ ears off—the same ear he’s missing himself,” the shelter said on Facebook. “The employee who discovered this couldn’t believe it, so she shot these pictures to show the rest of our team.”

The team recounted how Bruno’s history was significantly less charming and that the manner in which he lost his ear was the furthest thing from adorable.

“Bruno used to live chained outside, and his ear was ripped off when another dog attacked him and he couldn’t escape,” the shelter explained. “But Bruno thinks there’s nothing wrong with him, and he now has a best buddy just like him to prove it.” “Bruno, you’re amazing just the way you are.”

Bruno “came from a terrible position” where he was chained up outside the entire year, through “cold winters” and “hot N.C. summers,” and couldn’t escape his pain, according to the SPCA.

His outside life had an effect on his health as well. “Bruno has heartworm disease from living outside all of his life, but because of your kind contribution, SPCA Wake is able to deliver Bruno’s entire course of therapy over the next few months!” “Heartworm illness is serious and potentially fatal, impacting hundreds of shelter dogs in North Carolina each year and making it much more difficult for them to find homes.”

Bruno is friendly and lovely, according to the shelter, despite the trials he has faced.

“You’d never guess he’d had such a difficult start in life—despite his pouty eyes, he’s a very cheerful and loving guy, and his tail never stops wagging!” FOX10 was informed by SPCA personnel. “He’s well-mannered, affectionate, and quite intelligent.”

He still enjoys other dogs and loves everyone he encounters, they said.

Bruno’s adorable images became viral online, with the initial post being shared over 50,000 times on Facebook. After reading Bruno’s story, one guy thought the dog was the one for him.

“And just like that, Bruno has a new dad,” the SPCA said of the good news. “Of course, he has to bring his matching stuffie so they can be buddies forever.”

And the toy followed him, as the SPCA revealed in Bruno’s Freedom Walk video.

“Bruno’s adoptive parents love him just the way he is and have pledged to show Bruno nothing but unconditional love for the rest of his life,” the shelter added.
