“Comedy Is Part of How We Cope,” Seth Rogen and Wife Lauren Miller Say About Genetic Alzheimer’s Disease…

Both Lauren Miller Rogen, Seth Rogen’s wife, and he are well aware that laughing is the greatest medicine.

After caring for Lauren’s mother Adele, who was diagnosed with genetic early-onset Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 55, the comically gifted couple tells that humor is “absolutely part of how we cope with things.”

This week, the couple is preparing for the third annual CareCon hosted by Hilarity for Charity.

She is quoted as saying, “I’m fortunate, I live with a really hilarious guy. And like my mother told me back then, I can be hilarious at times as well. Whether or not we are conscious of it, for us, humor is something that is always there and an essential component of how we naturally deal with stressful situations.

She and her husband, Seth, 40, who tied the knot in October 2011, established HFC with a group of friends the following year, and Lauren’s most important piece of advise for anyone with a similar genetic tendency is to “know yourself, know your statistics, and know your genetic risk factors.”

She encourages people to “not be frightened to deep dig into that.”

“Because there are things that you can do to alter your genetics and to make adjustments to your lifestyle and live a brain-healthy life and perhaps either postpone or maybe even maybe even prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. ”

Seth says that in addition to bringing attention to the disease, their mission is to make the caregiving responsibilities of Alzheimer’s patients “easier to bear” by providing support in the form of resources such as workshops on financial and emergency planning that are held during CareCon, which is held on National Caregivers Day.

A year away from celebrating 20 years of dating, Seth reveals that the secret to a long-lasting relationship is to “give each other the benefit of the doubt and avoid confrontation” whenever it is feasible to do so.

According to Lauren, “We’re truly going at the same pace. And in addition to that, what we truly want is to be kind to one another and to love one another… We make a serious effort to demonstrate that.”
