Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn, two of the most respected names in country music, collaborated to perform a medley of Loretta’s songs. And what a lovely way to think about the enormous effect that Loretta Lynn had on the world of country music!
Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn are perhaps two of the most famous female artists in the history of country music.
Both of these women have been very successful throughout their careers as artists, making them front-runners in their respective genres.
“Coal Miner’s Daughter” was the first song that they performed. Both of these ladies were born into families that were suffering financially, so they have a common experience that bonds them together: a story of overcoming adversity.
Dolly was one of twelve children who grew up in the Great Smoky Highlands of Tennessee, whereas Loretta was the daughter of a coal miner in Kentucky and grew up in a little hut in the mountains of that state.
Both ladies were able to tell their stories and advance their careers via the utilization of their talents as songwriters and singers.
Both seem to have had a heartfelt bond of sisterhood and friendship with one another. Dolly Parton’s sassy soprano melody and Loretta Lynn’s deep alto vocals combine to create an incredible performance by the two powerhouses working together.
A selection of Loretta Lynn’s most well-known songs was performed by the women, while Dolly Parton gave encouraging remarks in between each song. She also made the hilarious assertion that her mother was a major admirer of one of the songs “for obvious reasons,” which she said in a lighthearted manner.
The humorous back and forth between the hosts elevates the overall entertainment value of the film.
