To the joy of fans, the third and final installment of the Magic Mike trilogy has arrived, with Channing Tatum reprising his role as Mike Lane for one last dance. Lane is followed throughout the film as he collaborates with and falls for a rich socialite played by co-star Salma Hayek. Ahead of the highly anticipated premiere of Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Hayek provided some behind-the-scenes details from her experience on set, admitting that Tatum “almost killed” her during a “difficult” lap dance.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the “Desperado” actor described an event during Magic Mike’s Last Dance preparations that forced Tatum to flip Hayek upside down. However, things did not quite proceed as planned.
“There’s one scene that isn’t in [the film] when I’m upside down and my legs have to be elsewhere,” Hayek said to Jimmy Kimmel. “But when you’re upside down, you lose your sense of direction, and I didn’t do what I was meant to do, so in rehearsal, I went like, head down, and I almost smacked my skull.”
Tatum “hung on to” her slacks, which began to slide “away,” according to the actor. “I was genuinely concerned,” Hayek added. I couldn’t recall if I was wearing underpants or not. So, instead of using my hands to shield my head, I just gripped my jeans. He says, “Put your hands up,” and I say, “No, no, no, no.”
“Everybody rushed in and kind of dragged me away from him, and he asked, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” the “Frida” actress concluded. “What’s wrong with me?” I asked. “You almost killed me.”
As previously stated, the shirtless Kings of Tampa are returning for another sequel, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, six years after the franchise’s previous installment in 2015. The Stephen Soderbergh-directed picture, which also stars Ayub Khan Din, Jemelia George, Juliette Motamed, Vicki Pepperdine, Gavin Spokes, Caitlin Gerard, and Christopher Bencomo, will be released in theaters on February 10.
