On Wednesday, the Colombian singer sat down for an interview with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas, which was done in Spanish, and reflected on the process of learning to feel whole on her own for the first time.

“I must admit that throughout my whole life, I’ve had a significant emotional dependence [on males].

I was head over heels for love “Shakira, who is 46 years old, disclosed to the presenter that she formerly had the belief that a woman need the companionship of a male in order to feel whole.

“I’ve managed to learn it from another viewpoint and believe that I’ll be alright on my own,” she added, “when a woman goes through [troubles] in her life, she emerges more powerful than before. To emerge from adversity in a stronger position indicates that you have acquired the capacity to acknowledge and accept your own frailties and vulnerabilities.”

Currently, Shakira claims that she is “on the way up” and that she has “managed to believe that I am enough,” both of which are things that she “never dreamed would happen.”

“I have two kids who rely on me,” she said of her boys Sasha, 8, and Milan, 10, whom she shares with Piqué, 36. “I feel whole, because I feel like I can depend on myself and I have two kids who depend on me.”

“It’s imperative that I have the strength of a lion. In order for that strength to be genuine and not just an act, it must have been earned through the experience of enormous anguish. Having the ability to tolerate the frustration and accept the suffering that comes with the realization that not everything in life will turn out the way we hoped it would.”

The singer best known for her hit “Hips Don’t Lie” continued by saying, “There are dreams that shatter, and we need to pick up the pieces and put them back together ourselves.”

More than 11 years after it was originally acknowledged that they were dating, Shakira and the soccer star made the announcement in June that they were breaking up and going their separate ways.

The pair announced their decision to split up with a joint statement that began, “We regret to confirm that we are splitting.” “We ask that you respect our need for privacy at this time for the sake of the safety of our children, who are our first concern. Please accept our thanks in advance for your consideration and respect.”

Since then, Piqué made his relationship with his girlfriend Clara Chia Mart, who is 23 years old, official on Instagram in January. In the meanwhile, Shakira has released three tunes on which she seems to address the breakup.

The most recent one is a duet with another Colombian musician named Karol G called “TQG.”

In it, they sing about the difficulties of seeing a former lover go on with their lives while also highlighting the ways in which they have grown as individuals as a result of the experience.
