Goldie Hawn was skeptical of her ex-husband’s new beau, Cindy Williams,’ intentions to create a cross-family relationship between her children and their half-siblings after her divorce from Bill Hudson

After his divorce from Goldie Hawn, Bill Hudson married Cindy Williams, with whom he had two children, Oliver and Kate. Hudson and Williams went over to fetch his children after their divorce.

Wyatt Hawn, the actress’s child with her new lover, Kurt Russell, wanted to join them, but they had to leave him with his nanny. The choice crushed their hearts, prompting Williams to attempt to form an interfamilial tie between the two families.

On a journey from New York to Los Angeles in 1975, Hudson met Hawn, who had boarded the same plane. The couple fell in love and married a year later, on June 3, 1976.

Two months after their wedding, the couple delivered their first child, Oliver Hudson, on September 7, 1976. Kate Hudson, their second child, was born on April 19, 1979.

The couple’s relationship deteriorated a year after their daughter was born, and Hudson filed for divorce on August 15, 1979. Hudson and Hawn’s relationship has been strained since their split. The former also has a strained connection with his children.

Williams, who considered her family to be the most important thing in her life, died in January 2023 after a brief illness. Her children announced her death, saying she was a beautiful woman who would be much missed.

Williams was playing one of the major characters in the popular TV show “Laverne & Shirley” when she met Hudson during a celebrity baseball game. As Williams shouted, Hudson caught him watching and gave him a thumbs down since she believed he was a playboy.

Her attitude toward Hudson shifted after the musician gave her a book titled “Heart Sounds” by Martha Lear for Christmas. Following that, Williams asked him to dinner, and when he arrived, she was amazed by his appearance. The actress stated:

“He looks like a Greek god.”

Williams fell pregnant two months later, while Hudson was still working on his divorce from Hawn. Hudson’s divorce was finalized two months later, and the couple married soon after.

While pregnant, Williams returned to the set of “Laverne & Shirley” to film the eighth season, but learned in her contract that she was scheduled to work on her due date.

The actress then tried to work out a solution with the studio, but things got so complicated that she had to leave the show.

Williams and Hudson have two children, Emily and Zack. They also looked after Hudson’s children from his previous marriage: Goldie Hawn, Oliver and Kate.

Williams discussed parenthood, saying that the early phases seemed like a trial by fire, but she has learned to love her children. Hudson also lauded the actress for understanding how to balance business and family life, unlike his ex-wife. He stated:

“Cindy understands how to combine her family and her career. “I never had it in my marriage with Goldie, no matter how she portrayed herself after our divorce as this abandoned little thing who was abused by men.”

The singer had a great career at the start of his marriage to Hawn, but Hawn struggled with hers since she was eight months pregnant.

After their children were born, Hawn was desperate to revive her floundering career and frequently left Hudson alone to care for them. During this period, the musician was fighting to keep his career afloat.

While filming “Foul Play,” Hawn began prioritizing her work over her family, which led to Hudson moving out and suing for divorce.

Hudson has also been praised for their ability to patiently parent their children. He sees his children from his previous marriage on a regular basis and has effectively merged them with their half-siblings.

Williams filed for divorce in 2000 after 18 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

Williams has attempted to foster a friendly connection between Emily and Zack, as well as their half-siblings, Oliver and Kate. She stated that if Oliver and Kate pay a visit, all of the kids get along great and act as a perfect family.

Hawn also thanked Williams for always getting Oliver shoes and Kate gowns. She would also occasionally pick up their medications.

Spending such meaningful time with his children does not happen as frequently as Hudson would have liked. The artist said that his ex-wife, Hawn, was traveling around the world with Oliver and Kate, making it difficult for him and Williams to organize anything with the kids.

Even when Hawn wasn’t traveling, she would frequently reject Hudson’s attempts to locate the children. However, the musician later begged her to allow him to have the children on a daily basis.

Williams mentioned that there was a time when they went to pick up Oliver and Kate. Wyatt Hawn, the actress’s child with her lover Kurt, wanted to accompany them, but they couldn’t take him without the approval of his mother, who had traveled.

Also, when Williams gave birth to her first child, Emily’s half-brother Oliver sought unsuccessfully to convince his mother Hawn to visit his half-sister. Both occurrences, according to Williams, crushed her heart.

Williams and Hawn are both extremely dedicated to their careers. Because of their efforts, every one of them has achieved success in their respective fields.

However, the pair’s perceptions of themselves diverge. Unlike Hawn, Williams does not feel the need to be visible all the time and regards herself as an actor rather than a celebrity.

Williams is also recognized as one of her generation’s best comedians. For her outstanding performances over the years, she has received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations.

The actress has acted in films such as “Travels With My Aunt,” “American Graffiti,” and “Happy Days Girl.” Williams has also tried his hand at producing films and previously co-produced “The Father of the Bride.”

Williams filed for divorce in 2000 after 18 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences between her and the artist as the cause.

In the divorce, the actress wanted shared custody of their kid. Williams has published her book, “Shirley, I Jest,” since their divorce.

Meanwhile, Hawn’s half-daughter Kate, who is now a renowned actress herself, is hoping to reconcile with her siblings after spending so little time with them over the years.

Kate feels it would be beneficial for them to get together and bond now that they are older. The actress stated that there has been a lot of discussion about dysfunctional relationships, but it appears that little is being done about it.

The actress had been thinking about all of her siblings and wanted to meet them all and bond with them. Hopefully, they will be able to do so very soon.
