John and Phyllis Cook, a newlywed couple, just tied the knot and are now enjoying their life together at the Ohio retirement community where they both currently live. On August 8, Phyllis Cook will be 103 years old, while her husband, John Cook just celebrated his 100th birthday.
When the two went to the courthouse to receive their marriage license a week ago, they did so with a different strategy than they had originally intended.
“We weren’t expecting to be married here, but when we arrived, they said, ‘we could marry you here.'” I responded with, “Good, let’s get it over with,” and we did,” John shared.
When John and Phyllis finally decided to be married, they had been seeing each other for a whole year.
“I know you think it’s a little bit farfetched for someone our age, but we fell in love with each other,” Phyllis said.
Both John and Phyllis have experienced the loss of their husbands in the past. The newlyweds are overjoyed to have been given the opportunity to start again and look for love for the third time.
At this point in their life, John and Phyllis are going to spend the rest of their lives together at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania, eating meals and relaxing in the sun in their mobility scooters.
Nevertheless, they both agreed to allow the other person some personal space.
