Michael J. Fox expresses his affection to his 34-year-old wife, who supports and kisses him despite his condition.
“My favorite life right now is that I get to spend so much time with my family.” Michael J. Fox is currently enjoying his life, despite everything.
Michael J. Fox rose to prominence in the 1980s with parts in “Back to the Future” and “Family Ties.” Aside from his fame as a movie star, the actor who has since retired is also known for his work to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease.
Fox has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for decades, since experiencing signs of early-onset Parkinson’s disease while filming “Doc Hollywood” in 1991. He was diagnosed not long after.
The actor just won the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Annual Governors Award after years of raising awareness and cash for the disease’s research.
Woody Harrelson presented him with the honor, noting that despite suffering from the illness for so long, Fox never considered himself a victim, instead addressing his obstacles head-on and raising over a billion dollars via his foundation.
Harrelson claimed that Fox did not want the job of illness champion, and yet, despite his numerous blockbusters, his advocacy part is by far his greatest performance. Harrelson claims that:
“Michael J. Fox is the perfect model of how to fight and live.”
Onstage during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Governors Awards at Fairmont Century Plaza on November 19, 2022, in Los Angeles, California, Michael J. Fox collects the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award with Tracy Pollan.
Fox won the Oscar trophy amid a lengthy standing ovation, and as he tried to speak, he said he could start shaking. He offered an impassioned address, thanking his wife of 34 years, Tracy Pollan, for her unwavering support since his diagnosis. He struggled to find the appropriate words and stumbled before saying:
“Tracy made it plain she was staying with me for the long haul.”
He revealed that he had encountered several hurdles since his diagnosis, but that despite the fact that Parkinson’s is a condition that never goes away, it has been a blessing to him. He then called his wife to the platform, saying he couldn’t believe he’d been standing there for so long.
Before returning to their seats, his wife kissed him passionately. Their four children, Sam, twins Schuyler and Aquinnah, and Esme, were all present to watch him collect the prize.
What Is Michael J. Fox’s Current Situation?
The actor has had a difficult few years. In 2018, he sustained a shattered arm as a result of a potentially fatal spinal cord injury.
He recovered well, but in the months that followed, he shattered his elbow, arm, face, shoulder, and hand. However, the last month or two have been a significant milestone for the star, as he has made significant improvement and can now walk without assistance.
He has subsequently healed and is able to walk without assistance for the first time in a long time. During an interview with People in October, the actor mentioned that he was coming back to walking steadily:
“I think it’s fine for me to stroll by myself.” It is. It’s amazing.”
The actor walked independently for the first time in public during a mini-reunion with his “Back to the Future” co-star Christopher Lloyd, and he just received a humanitarian award.
Michael J. Fox’s Life with His Wife in the Midst of His Disease
Fox and Tracy have been married since 1988, and yet their love gets stronger with each passing year. Tracy has never left her husband’s side, even after being diagnosed with the illness barely three years into their marriage.
Fox recounts telling his wife about his illness, noting that while they didn’t know what to expect while waiting for the findings, all he remembers is Tracy not blinking.
She has remained faithful and at his side all these years later, and Fox appreciates that he is now enjoying his best life because his wife and children have remained supportive and love him just as much.
“My best life today is that I get to spend so much time with my family,” Fox adds. “Tracy and the kids are fantastic. “I know it sounds dull, like a fairy tale, but we’ve been married thirty-something years, so we’ve worked it out.”
