Listeners were impressed by Wal-Mart cashier’s phenomenal performance of Dolly Parton’s hit

We’re used to watching worthy vocalists have their dreams come true thanks to reality competition shows like The Voice, American Idol, and the Got Talent series. However, it is not only those wanting to become celebrities who are being discovered. In an age of cellphones and the internet, even “the little guys” may find themselves in the spotlight if a video goes viral.

Kayla Slone, 21, worked as a cashier at a Walmart in Logan, West Virginia. What few people realized at the time was that she was also a fantastic country vocalist.
Slone loved to sing and aspired to appear at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. But, like many others, she never imagined her dream becoming a reality. Slone, according to ABC News, prepared a “homemade album” with her brother when she was 15 years old, but nothing came of it.

Slone was at work one day when she blasted out a song in the checkout line.
A customer decided to take out their phone and record the cashier’s spontaneous act. Slone, who has a lovely country voice, sang a rendition of Dolly Parton’s 1971 hit “Coat of Many Colors.”

Slone may be seen in the footage wearing her name badge and fumbling with a pen. As she gazes out, she sings the heartfelt lyrics in an angelic voice.
“Although we had no money
I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me”

Slone’s performance was unplanned, and there was no microphone or additional equipment. However, when the video was shared on the internet, it rapidly went viral.
Viewers left remarks such as,

“This child sings so well. Dolly Parton is an example. “This is a God-given skill that I hope is acknowledged.”

People in the shop began to recognize the West Virginia cashier (who was married to a coal miner) and asked her to sing.
Slone also started conducting interviews, such as one with ABC News. She expressed her amazement at the success of her performance at a recording at the Walmart where she worked. She also told the television station about her desire to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.

Both of Slone’s performances are available to watch here! Isn’t it fantastic that her performance at the checkout line brought her to the Grand Ole Opry’s main stage?
