Stylish underwear as outerwear prevailed at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party, from star Daisy Edgar-Jones’ stunning transparent gown to Florence Pugh’s Valentino outfit. Although she missed the main ceremony, director and actor Olivia Wilde dipped into the trend with a toga-style neckline that displayed one side of a basic, black leather bra.
For the occasion, the director of Don’t Worry, Darling wore a gown by Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst. The white ensemble is the Midas dress from the New York-based label’s Fall 2023 collection, which has an off-the-shoulder neckline and a black bra. Karla Welch styled her; she has previously dressed Justin and Hailey Bieber, Holland Taylor, Sarah Paulson, and Lady Gaga for the Academy Awards.
Don’t worry, Oscar Wilde’s newest movie, Sweetheart, was noticeably left out of the Oscar nominations after a run that was often unintentionally funny and full of controversy. After a tumultuous Venice Film Festival in which main star Harry Styles was accused of spitting on co-star Chris Pine and lead actor Pugh skipped a press conference over rumors of a conflict, it looks like the dust has cleared.
Prior to the Oscars ceremony, Wilde celebrated her 39th birthday at the CAA pre-Oscar party, and Pugh was also present. According to the Daily Mail, the duo did not meet up or pose for photographs together. Instead, the filmmaker posed for a photo with Pedro Pascal from The Last of Us. “I’m standing on six-inch heels. “In actuality, I’m short and rather worthless in an apocalypse,” she said on Instagram. Pugh was also present at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party, which speaks well for the couple finally moving on from their previous collaboration.
