Megan Becker-Towns used to like doing art and crafts as a child, and one Father’s Day she created her father a tie as an art project for Father’s Day when she was five years old. He pledged to wear it on her wedding day, and he followed through on his commitment!
The day her father informed her that he would wear it to her wedding, Megan was giddy with excitement.
“When I was little, I would get delighted all over again that he loved it so much that he would wear it to my wedding,” she recounted.
“It was like a dream come true.” He proudly put the tie above his bedroom mirror for the remainder of her youth, allowing her to see it every day.
“When I was a teenager, I thought it was funny and would roll my eyes at him,” she said.
As time went on, the tie was missing around the time she was getting married, maybe as a result of her parents’ relocation, and Megan speculated that it had been lost around that time. When she inquired of her father, he appeared to express the same sentiments.
The big day arrived, and Megan and her father, who had given her away, went down the aisle to exchange vows. However, when it came time for the father-daughter dance, he was nowhere to be found.
Glenn appeared on the dance floor a little time later, still sporting the crayon-colored laminated tie from earlier.
Megan was impressed by her father’s gesture at the wedding, and she shared her feelings by saying; “I simply want to express my gratitude for all my father has done for me.”
