Rebel Wilson reveals that her first surrogate miscarried before she gave birth to Royce

Rebel Wilson and her partner Ramona Agruma welcomed baby girl Royce through surrogacy in November, and she was obviously overjoyed to become a first-time mother. Unfortunately, it turns out that this was not Wilson’s first effort at surrogacy. In a recent podcast interview, the Pitch Perfect actress said that her first surrogate miscarried and that the loss was “very painful” to deal with at the time.

Wilson and Agruma had only been dating for a few months when the Australian actress revealed that she had hired her own surrogate. “I’d only been dating Ramona for two months, and I had to say, ‘By the way, the surrogate looks like it’s out of the first trimester, it’s serious, and I’m going to have a baby by the end of the year,’ ” she said on Wednesday’s episode of the Australian podcast The Pick Up with Britt, Laura, and Mitch. She went on to remark, “Unfortunately, the embryo miscarried.”

“You get so pleased when it works, and it was so sad,” she went on. “I was in grief at the moment.” Wilson also discussed the process of selecting a sperm donor, and she even had a “sperm concierge” assist her through her options. Thankfully, Wilson persevered and tried again, and she and Agruma welcomed their “miracle” child, Royce, last November.

“I can’t even express how much I adore her; she’s a wonderful miracle,” Wilson said in an emotional Facebook post announcing Royce’s birth. “I will be eternally thankful to everyone involved (you know who you are); this has been years in the works… But I wanted to thank my beautiful surrogate in particular for carrying her and giving birth to her with such elegance and care. Thank you very much for assisting me in starting my own family; it’s a wonderful gift. The greatest present! I am prepared to lavish tiny Roycie with all of my affection. I’m learning quickly. Kudos to all the mothers out there! “I’m honored to be a member of your organization.”

While her path to parenting was not easy, Wilson expressed her joy at becoming Royce’s mother in November. “My feelings for her are overflowing.” She is stunning and flawless. “I thought, ‘Oh, this is such a lovely miracle,'” she told People.

Royce is only a little baby, but she is definitely adored by her mother.
