Richard Belzer, well remembered for his role as Detective John Munch on “Law & Order,” has died at the age of 78. His wife, Harlee McBride, and his two stepdaughters, Jessica Erin Benton and Shannon Bree Benton, survive him.

Bill Scheft, a close friend of Bekzer’s, confirmed his death, stating that the “Homicide” actor died in his home in France. Richard died surrounded by his family, according to Scheft. The author also stated that Munch had a number of health difficulties before his death.
