After disclosing the most recent diagnosis of her father, Bruce Willis, Scout Willis is speaking up about the emotional hardships she has been going through.
The 31-year-old daughter of the actor and Demi Moore spoke out to her fans on her Instagram Story on Friday, detailing the roller coaster of feelings she’s been experiencing since since her family disclosed that Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Demi Moore is her mother.
She stated that she was “feeling emotionally fatigued and a little overwhelmed, but also extremely in awe of the love so many people have for my papa.”
Her sisters Tallulah Willis and Rumer Willis echoed her feelings and retold her narrative on their own with their own twists and turns.
Tallulah, who is 29 years old, stated in her Facebook post, “Second this Scouter experiencing the abundant love for our husband and our family.” Rumer, who is 34 years old, recently posted a comment on her Story, in which she said, “I third this Scouter and [Tallulah] feeling so sincerely thankful and in amazement of the love for us and our beautiful Daddio.”
On Thursday, Bruce’s family shared the news that the 67-year-old man had been given a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. This all-encompassing word refers to a set of brain illnesses that affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.
These lobes are responsible for regulating a person’s personality as well as their speech and emotions, a portion of the lobes will atrophy as a result of the illness, which will result in alterations in these regions.
According to Dr. Allison Reiss, an expert on dementia-related illnesses and a member of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Medical, Scientific and Memory Screening Advisory Board, there is currently no cure, and the prognosis is similar to that of Alzheimer’s.
The members of the family have turned to one another for support in the wake of the recent news.
On Thursday, each of the three sisters, as well as Moore, who is 60 years old, and Emma Hemming Willis, who is married to Willis, uploaded the identical image of their family patriarch on social media. Bruce and Emma are also the parents of their daughters Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8.
Since we made the announcement in the spring of 2022 that Bruce had been diagnosed with aphasia, Bruce’s health has worsened, and we now have a more precise diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (also known as FTD).
“Unfortunately, difficulties with communicating are only one of the many symptoms that Bruce has as a result of his illness. It is a comfort to finally have a definite diagnosis, despite the fact that this is quite painful “they went on with it.
The family also included the following in their comprehensive statement: “Bruce has maintained throughout his life that he should use his voice in the world to assist others and to raise awareness about critical problems in both the public and private spheres.
We have no doubt in our minds that, if he had the ability to do so at this time, he would want to respond by bringing global attention to those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and a connectedness with those who are experiencing the impact that it has on so many people and their families.”
They proceeded by saying, “Bruce has always been able to find pleasure in life, and he has assisted everyone he knows in doing the same.”
“The fact that he and all of us have been shown the same level of concern by others has been quite meaningful.
During this trying time, the love that you all have shown for our cherished husband, father, and friend has brought us to tears on more than one occasion.”
They finished by saying, “Your ongoing compassion, understanding, and respect will allow us to assist Bruce live as full of a life as possible,” and then they signed off by saying, “Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn.”
