Do you understand how to twist?

The females in this viral video most clearly do.
They embarked on an incredible performance in which they performed a line dance rendition of the iconic twist, which brings back so many wonderful memories.

The twist has been around for nearly sixty years, and it’s still as much fun as it was when it first appeared on the dance scene.
These days’ children have no idea what they are missing.

Karen Tripp choreographed the whole performance.

She performed the twist to one of the most popular tunes, Chubby Checker’s “Let’s Twist Again.”

It’s not too quick, but it’s also not too sluggish.
It’s just fast enough to make the dancers work a little harder.

“I’m 17 years old, yet this grandmother outruns me,” says one YouTube commentator.

The performance they performed is described as an “absolute beginning line dance” in the video description.
It wasn’t really complicated, but it sure looked cool. It featured 32 counters and four walls.

A “wall” in line dancing refers to the direction the dancers are facing and can range from one to four walls (front, back, left, and right).

In the video, the dancers would slide to the left, then to the right, clap, and then turn toward the next wall.

Of course, there was also a lot of twisting involved.

If the group had done this dance on stage at one of the old-school dance halls, they would have easily grabbed the show.
That’s how smooth they all were!

Watching the video transports you to the past.
These are dances that almost no one knows how to do anymore.

The twist originally became popular in 1959 and peaked in popularity in the early 1960s.
It was deemed quite provocative at the time, with a lot of hip shaking and swinging arms.

The twist was a gesture of young defiance at a time when rock and roll were just getting started.

However, by today’s standards, it is rather mild.
Old-school critics would have a heart attack if they saw someone twerking or grinding like in today’s performances.

Although, in our opinion, classic dances are equally cool as current dances,
They’re simply quite different.

It entices us to try the twist for ourselves.
It wouldn’t be that difficult to learn.

If you’re trapped at home and have some free time, why not start practicing?
Your buddies will be so amazed the next time you show up to a party and start busting out 1960s moves. That much is certain.

People online appear to agree as well.

“This is the cutest thing ever,” one viewer adds.
To date, the video of the line dance twist has gotten nearly a million views and thousands of likes.

Almost everyone believes the girls’ (and one guy’s) line dance was very cool, and we surely agree.
