A guy in a wheelchair who had fallen into the tracks at a subway station in New York City was rescued by another man in a heroic act that was performed very quickly.
The footage of the rescue portrays the dramatic and tense moment accurately. You can see that the guy in the wheelchair is unable to go forward because he is caught on the tracks. And shortly after that, another guy leaps down to help rescue him.
“Without any hesitation, one guy dove headfirst into the action. According to Lauren Mennen, a reporter who was there at the incident and observed it, “He didn’t give it a second thought if he was going to walk on those tracks.”
Others jumped in to provide a hand in getting the guy and the wheelchair off of the train tracks.
To their great relief, they were successful in getting the guy to the platform in time for him to avoid being injured by the approaching train.
The video was uploaded to an Instagram account with the name “subwaycreatures,” and it was shared there, in addition, the video contains hundreds of comments from people praising the courage of the one guy.
The video has a description that says, “This afternoon at Union Square, a guy in a wheelchair wound up on the subway tracks,” and it shows the man on the rails.
“Fortunately, a Good Samaritan leapt off the train approximately 10 seconds before it pulled into the station and saved the guy (along with his wheelchair). A huge thank you goes out to whomever it was that ran down to provide assistance!
The individual who had been rescued was subsequently sent to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
