In November, Sandra Devine, of Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland, wanted to take her husband Martin out to the Italian restaurant for his birthday, but the establishment was completely booked by that time.

Instead, they made the decision to quickly go to the convenience store to pick up some beer and some scratch tickets.

However, whatever disappointment they may have had about not having tiramisu in their life was swiftly replaced with elation when they discovered (or so they believed) that they had won £1,000.

“I was over the moon because I believed I’d won £100, my husband looked at it and said, ‘I think it’s £1,000,’ but I kept thinking, ‘There’s no way it’s £1,000.'”

“He phoned the operator and she asked, ‘Are you sitting down? You’ve won the jackpot of 300,000 pounds.’ I was unable to communicate while my husband and my youngest boy were running around the living room,” she said.

“None of us saw the two squares we missed until we were informed we won big. That night, we simply didn’t know what to do or how to behave; we had a late supper owing to what was going on, and then we contacted my mother and brother as well as my mother-in-law. ”

The fact that we now have a vehicle has had a significant impact on our lives since it has allowed us to explore the possibility of moving into a larger home; nonetheless, we continue to be the same people that we were before.
