Who will own Graceland following Lisa Marie Presley’s death? Elvis’ daughters will return home

The world is still hurting over Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s only child who passed away on Jan. 12 after suffering a cardiac attack. The public will be allowed to say farewell to the late artist on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m., at a scheduled public memorial ceremony on the front lawn of Graceland, Elvis’ estate that was passed down to her.

Her ultimate resting site will also be in Memphis, Tennessee. According to People, Presley will be buried next to her son Benjamin, who died in 2020, at Graceland’s Meditation Garden. The estate is also the ultimate resting place of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, his parents, Gladys and Vernon, and his grandmother, Minnie Mae.

Presley previously discussed what would happen to Graceland after she no longer owned it in a 2013 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It is completely and completely mine, Graceland, and it has always been mine,” she began.”That always will be. When it is no longer mine, it will pass to my children. That’s all there is to it.”

That is exactly what will occur. A family representative confirmed to Bustle on Jan. 17 that Graceland will be given to Presley’s kids, Riley Keough, 33, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14. Riley is Presley’s daughter from her first marriage to Danny Keough, while Harper and Finley are her kids from her fourth marriage to Michael Lockwood. Despite the fact that she filed for divorce in 2016, it will not be legalized until 2021.

According to Graceland’s official website, Presley became the sole heir to Elvis’ fortune after his father died in 1978 and his grandmother died in 1980. The property was kept in a trust that was dissolved when she reached the age of 25. Presley later established the Elvis Presley Trust, with Priscilla Presley and the National Bank of Commerce serving as co-trustees.

In 1982, Graceland became a place that anyone could visit, and it is now a National Historic Landmark. According to the website, Graceland receives over 500,000 visitors each year and has made significant contributions to Memphis tourism industry.

Elvis Presley died when she was nine years old, and during a 2013 interview on The Talk, Presley described growing up with her father in their Graceland family home. “He and I spent a lot of time upstairs together. “We spend a lot of time together up there because the top portion of Graceland is practically his room in my room,” she added. “He’d put a tiny chair and a TV in my room and spend a lot of time in there.”

“That’s when I truly got to, you know, be with him.”
