“With Brendan? I would do anything with Brendan. It was so much fun,”Alicia Silverstone

Brendan Fraser’s Hollywood resurgence, which saw him win some of the most important industry prizes, including the Oscar for Best Actor, was a highlight of the 2023 awards season. A lot of people are praising the actor’s performance in the drama directed by Darren Aronofsky. Clueless star Alicia Silverstone recently said which cult classic from the 1990s she’d like to re-make with her former co-star.

According to Variety, Silverstone attended a Clueless reunion panel at ’90s Con on March 19, during which a fan inquired if she’d be open to a sequel to the 1999 romance comedy Blast From the Past, in which she co-starred with Fraser.

“Are you with Brendan?” I’d do anything for Brendan. “That was a lot of fun,” she said. “I met Brendan just after he got his Oscar, and he’s very cute. He talked about how we all go through bad times and how you have to learn and that suffering is a part of life, and then look at what happened to him. So, absolutely, I’m willing to do that.”

Blast from the Past, starring Fraser, Sarah Silverstone, and Christopher Walken, among others, tells the story of Adam Webber (Fraser), who has lived his whole life inside a nuclear fallout shelter. As Adam eventually leaves the shelter, he meets a lady named Eve (Silverstone), who helps him adjust to contemporary life.

When it came out in 1999, the rom-com directed by Hugh Wilson got mixed reviews, and it now has a 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fraser claimed at the time of the film’s release that he drew inspiration for the “fish-out-of-water” part from acting veteran Dick Van Dyke. “I always get a sense of untapped discovery doing those kinds of characters,” he says. “I like it because it allows me to actually perform the actor’s work.”
