Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s love affair began at the Robert F. Kennedy Tennis Tournament in 1977, according to NBC’s Tom Brokaw. During the occasion, the journalist introduced the pair, and things swiftly progressed into a love connection.
Arnold proposed to Shriver in August 1985, after nine years of courting. They married on April 26, 1986, at the Kennedy property in Hyannis, Massachusetts, less than a year later.

Arnold sobbed as he pleaded with Shriver for another opportunity, according to Ian Halperin, the author of Arnold’s biography.
Their connection led to the birth of a son, Joseph Baena, the following year.
