When customers exited a business in Catanduva, Sao Paulo, Brazil, they were met with an unexpected surprise: a little dog. The dog met each of them as they departed the store, not with a “hello,” but with a wave of farewell, like a seasoned store greeter.
The dog can be seen in the video extending her paw into the air and glancing at each pedestrian before waving to them. While she waits for her guardian inside the store, a few people take note and give her a tiny pet.
Leticia Americo, the filmmaker who caught the dog in action, wrote on Facebook, “I shot a tiny puppy waving goodbye to everyone coming into the store.”
One YouTube commenter gave some background information on the dog, named Agusta.
Agusta was apparently a stray who was barely alive when she was rescued from the streets. Before the rescue organization that had saved her adopted her, she spent some time in an animal hospital because she was afraid and couldn’t walk. Jefferson Alexandre Rodrigues, Agusta’s adopter, first noticed her on social media in 2019. She joined his household of eight cats and a couple more canines. Agusta spends most of her time at Rodrigues’ custom motorcycle business.
“When she arrived at my workshop, she was still afraid of strangers, but with time, she built up her confidence and became what we see in the films,” Rodrigues told G1 News. She has been the workshop’s principal employee since 2019.
Agusta and Rodrigues frequent this grocery store, and everyone in the area know her. She’s discovered that greeting people with her paw earns her attention and/or tasty food!
