It would seem that Malia Obama, the oldest daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama, has her sights set on a career in the entertainment industry…

The young woman, who is now 24 years old, has secured a position as a writer on a new program that is being produced by the creator of Atlanta, Donald Glover, better known by his musical moniker Childish Gambino, and one of his collaborators, Janine Nabers.

The one and only Beyoncé served as the creative catalyst for the new Amazon Prime Video series called Swarm, which is being produced by the former first daughter. The co-creator of the series discussed the subject in an interview with Vanity Fair, during which he explained what it was truly like to have Malia working on the program as a writer.

“Dre and Marissa are in their 20s,” Janine noted first, referring to the characters on the program that are portrayed by Dominique Fishback and Chloe Bailey, respectively. “Malia is in her 20s,” Janine continued, “so it was really fantastic having someone like her in the room.”

Janine had nothing but kind words to say about the budding author, and she insisted to VF that: “She maintains a very high level of professionalism. She is a very talented artist and writer.”

She went on to say that, “We really wanted to give her the chance to get her feet wet in TV and see if this is something she wants to continue doing.”

Malia graduated from Harvard in 2021 with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies, and in a subsequent interview with VF in March of 2022, Donald had just as many comments about her abilities and work ethic as he had in the previous interview.

At the time, he referred to her as “really brilliant,” and he stated things like, “I feel like she’s simply someone who’s going to have very wonderful things coming soon,” and “Her writing style is excellent.”

Even her position as the daughter of a former president was the subject of his humor, as he told the outlet: “We can’t be gentle with her simply because she’s the daughter of a [former] President, even if, as an additional comment, “She’s really normal and laid-back.” So there shouldn’t be any issues with it at all.”
